The Jonah Group

Christian 12 Step Recovery Meetings

Jonah 2:1 Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the fish’s belly.

Like Jonah, many of us had to live in the belly of a big fish for three days, and be spit up on the beach, before we would turn to God in obedience.

  • Do you, or did you have a problem with addictions?

  • Are you looking for a safe place to go where you will find the support of other Christians who understand?

  • Do you find it difficult to get closer to Jesus?

Then come on out to the Jonah Group here at the Church Fridays at 7:00 PM. Come in the 1st floor North door.

The Jonah Group is a Christian based 12 step group whose purpose is to enter the process of becoming more like Christ and also to increase our fellowship with God.

This group is a safe place to share, and look for the support of other members as we all walk this walk together. This group is to provide a path for hurting and/or addicted people to learn about Jesus Christ, and find the hope of a better life. The difference between The Jonah Group and many of the the numerous 12 step recovery groups that are out there, is that we claim Jesus Christ as our higher power, which was the basis of the first 12 step group.

The 12 steps are truly a biblical path to God.

  • Steps 1,2,3 are about the acceptance and surrender that we can’t do it on our own, and that we need Jesus in our lives.

  • Steps 4 -7 are the self examination and asking God to cleans us of our shortcomings.

  • Steps 8-9 are the healing process of forgiveness with people we have hurt.

  • Steps 10-12 are where we learn to walk this walk daily and take it to others who are hurting.

Proverbs 23:29-35

Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes?

Those who linger over wine.

Who go to sample bowls of missed wine.

Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly!

In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper.

Your eyes will see strange sights and your mind imagine confusing things.

You will be like one sleeping on the high seas. Lying on top of the rigging. “They hit me” you will say, “but I’m not hurt They beat me, but I don’t feel it! When will I wake up so I can find another drink?”

2 Corinthians 7:1

Let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
